The studio album 'Ella and Louis' featuring Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong - and accompanied by Oscar Peterson's quartet - was released in October 1956 by the newly established Verve Records, whose studio was located on Broadway in New York. The two jazz stars went on to record two more albums together, 'Ella and Louis Again' in 1957 and 'Porgy and Bess' in 1959. This photograph is one of the most famous ones ever taken of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.
