Queen Alexandrine of Denmark was the daughter of Grand Duke Friederich Franz III of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and his wife Anastasia, née Grand Duchess of Russia, and married the later King Christian X of Denmark in 1898. Her brother, Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, married Princess Alexandra of Hanover and Cumberland. Their daughter, Princess Anastasia of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1923–1979) was thus a niece of Queen Alexandrine of Denmark. Princess Anastasia married Prince Friederich Ferdinand of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg (1913–1989) in 1943. This couple became parents of the four below mentioned sisters.
