Literature: Poul Uttenreitter: “Maleren Olaf Rude”, Copenhagen, 1946, ill. p. 52 and mentioned p. 48 - “… after returning from Paris, Rude travelled to Frejlev, where he at Skejten painted the beautiful landscape with two oak trees, whose leafy canopies cast shadows across the trunks and over the fields. In the background, the sound between Lolland and Falster can be seen in bluish violet nuances under the radiant sky – all of it done with great colouristic boldness, freshness and vigour. In its style, the painting relates to the work of both Paul Gauguin and Van Gogh…”. Exhibited: “Olaf Rudes Retrospektive Udstilling”, Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, 1945.
