Johan Renatus Lüderitz (b. Christiansfeld c. 1780, d. after 1829)

A pair of portraits of the first German conductor at the opera in St. Petersburg and his wife; he in a blue jacket with white cravat, she in a green dress with a large bonnet of silk ribbons and laces. He signed and dated Lüderitz px. 1830, she signed Lüderitz. Gouache and watercolour on paper. Visible size 18×14 cm each. Period frames mounted with leather and paper with gold print. (2).

It is quite possible conductor Kind Karl Gottlieb (1821–1910), who moved to St. Petersburg in 1846 and was employed at the Imperial Theater 1857–1889.

Provenance: Acquired by Erica Zeiner-Henriksen 1922–1927 in St. Petersburg.
