“...Once it was the colour of saying..”. A very large conical shaped stoneware vase with incised relief letter decor. Exterior with modelled relief letters. Decorated with rose, orange, yellow, golden, green, blue, black and greyish black glaze. The inside with transparent green glaze. Unsigned. Unique. H. 48.3 cm. Diam. 37.4 cm.

The text is the beginning of a poem from 1938 by the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

Condition

Patina due to age and use including some surface scratches. By the letters are some traces of yelllowish glue from the assembly of the letters on the exterior - originating from the process of making. Two letters with traces of clear glue - recently glued. An “N” with a repair. Please see detailed images. The text is the beginning of a poem from 1938 by Dylan Thomas, Welsh poet.
