“Drengeportræt”. Portrait of a boy. Probably Peter Carl Lykke Simonsen d. 1896. He was wounded in the Battle of Isted. He was thereafter trained as a tobacco spinner and was manager of one of C. W. Obel's branches in Aalborg. Signed and dated D.C.M.D 1834. Oil on canvas. 26,5×21,5 cm.

Exhibited: Charlottenborg, 'Provinsmuseernes kunstskatte', 1959.

Provenance: The portrait may have been commissioned in 1834 by the married couple Carl Vilhelm Dreyer and Nicoline Cecilie Emilie Simonsen (portrait of their son), then probably to Hans Caspar Simonsen, Nicoline's brother-in-law and his wife. Inherited in the Simonsen family. Miss Wera Simonsen owned it from 1921 to 1975, when her brother inherited the painting. After his death it passed on to his widow and later to her brother.
