Vilhelm Lauritzen (b. Slagelse 1894, d. Gentofte 1984)

A pair of patinated brass wall lamps, each with three arms, mounted with opal glass shades. This example manufactured in the early 1950s by Louis Poulsen. W. 38 cm. H. 30 cm. (2)

Designed for “Folkets Hus” (The People's House) for the Workers' Association. These wall lamps were in the foyer and in the large hall. When the Workers' Association moved out, the house was empty for a few years. After a comprehensive restoration in 1996, the house reopened as VEGA - The House of Music. The property is like two others of Vilhelm Lauritzen's buildings; the Radio House at Rosenørns Allé and the 1939 Airport Terminal at Copenhagen Airport, today a preserved building - one of the youngest buildings in Denmark to be so.
