Peter Karpf (b. 1940)

A unique high back armchair of Brazilian rosewood. Seat and back with patinated grain leather, loose seat cushion upholstered with brown leather. Heavy brass ring fittings. Made approx. 1967, presumably by cabinetmaker Leschly Jacobsen. H. 121 cm. D. approx. 70 cm. W. 67 cm. Seat H. 35 cm.

Provenance: According to information from the seller, the chair was exhibited at a Cabinetmaker exhibition in 1967–68. Henceforth the chair stood at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers' Guild's offices, and then approx. 1970 acquired by present owner.

CITES-certificate valid for transport and re-sale within the European Union included.

Condition

Wear due to age and use, including scratches and marks. Some chips/notches around brass ring. Hairline crack at one leg. Chip on one back leg. Leather with wear, including stains, dirt and crackles. One leather strap with defect. Leather with heavy patina, seat cushion with wear in colour and defect strap for fastening.

Items that are made of Brazilian rosewood or contain parts of it, require a CITES export permit in order to be exported from Denmark to a country outside The European Union. Buyers residing outside the European Union are required to obtain this permit.
