Provenance: Painter Kaare Øijord (1921–2016), Norway. Acquired from J. F. Willumsen's widow, Michelle Bourret, and since then in the family’s possession.
Probably a preliminary sketch for the self portrait in “Det store relief” (The Large Relief) (1893–1928) at J. F. Willumsen's Museum, Frederikssund.
Examined in frame. The paper has turned slightly brown. Some foxing and minor discolourations. Handling marks.
