Throughout his time in Cuba in late December 1958, Michael realizes it was his older brother Fredo who sided with his enemies, and confronts him on New Year's Eve in the middle of a grandiose party. Michael hugs Fredo, then grabs his head, planting a giant “kiss of death” on his lips. He then says “I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart. You broke my heart.”
