CHURCHILL THEME
Arguably the most famous Churchill photograph of all, taken while the outcome of World War II was still undecided and just three weeks after the US had entered the war on the Allied side. Contrary to what most people would assume, Winston Churchill was not prepared to be immortalized that day and, upon being introduced to photographer Yousuf Karsh and seeing his equipment, exclaimed: 'What's this, what's this, why wasn't I told? A moment later, as Churchill placed another cigar between his lips and lit it, he added: 'You may take one'.
This is an original b/w silver-gelatin portrait photograph from 1965 or earlier, which appears in overcut condition (bottom half of the photograph is missing). Back has yellowed slightly. In addition, common handling marks.
