Presumably Russian Jeweler, early 20th century
An Imperial and Royal diamond and ruby brooch, of circular form, set with several rose-cut diamonds and facet-cut rubies in the shape of a double monogram HH for Prince Harald and Princess Helena of Denmark, mounted in platinum and 14k gold. Apparently no maker's mark. Presumably Russia. Early 20th century. Diam. 2 cm.
Prince Harald of Denmark (1876–1949) was son of Frederik VIII of Denmark and thus nephew of the Danish-born Tsaritsa Maria Feodorovna of Russia. He married Princess Helena of Glücksburg (1888–1962) in 1909. This brooch was a present from the Russian Tsaritsa to her nephew's future wife at their engagement.
Provenance: Descendants of King Frederik VIII of Denmark (1843–1912).
