Painter unknown, second half of 19th century

A pair of portraits of the married couple John Raphael (1802–1877) and Emma Raphael, née Schitt (1803–1844). Unsigned. Oil on canvas. 61×51 cm each. (2).

According to seller, the couple portrayed are the parents-in-law of the Danish stockbroker and politician, David Baruch Adler (1826–1878).

Condition

The female portrait with a few minor peelings and minimal crackles. The male portrait with a few minor peelings along the frame edge, and a bump with peelings near the centre of the canvas. Both are in need of a cleaning.
