Elias Meyer (b. Copenhagen 1763, d. s.p. 1809)

Kirsebærgangen was situated just outside Vesterport and it was a popular place to go for a promenade. Kongens Mølle (the King's Mill) on Schack's Bastion is seen in the background.

Literature: In “København. Før og nu - og aldrig”, 1990, vol. 9, p. 45, is a reproduction of an etching from 1801, which is related to the present drawing. A painting with the same motif, was sold at a Bruun Rasmussen auction in 2015. All three works are similar, but with slight variations - mainly in the figures depicted.
