The Frederiksborg Lottery was established in November 1860 to raise money for the reconstruction of Frederiksborg Castle, which burned down in 1859. All lottery winnings bear the lottery's hallmark. The profits consisted of contemporary art and industrial art, such as silverware, furniture and porcelain.
