This year, the Aquanaut model can celebrate its 25th anniversary. Back in 1997, the model was introduced as a 35.6 mm steel watch on a rubber strap. It clearly shares the design language of the Nautilus, which can be seen mainly on the case design. The Aquanaut is, however, the sportier of the two. It features a more legible dial, a rubber strap, often a slightly larger case size and a more rugged-feeling clasp. Even more characteristic for the Aquanaut, however, is the dial pattern that is replicated on the strap.

The Aquanaut has, just like the Nautilus, evolved into much more than the initial model. Today, it can be found in various case materials, with or without a bracelet and with different useful complications, such as a chronograph or a date indicator. The line-up has expanded into both larger models for men and smaller for women – some even with diamonds. The reason being, that the Aquanaut is one of the most sought-after and emblematic Patek Philippe watches today.

This Aquanaut, that we are pleased to offer on auction this September, is one of the most coveted and interesting iterations of the legendary model. Made in 18k rose gold, it oozes sporty luxury. It features a brown dial and strap that are perfectly fitting the lustre of the case. Although rather simple looking, the watch has two of the most useful complications for everyday life, namely a date at 6 o’clock and a travel time function, showing both the local time and your home time. When being at home, the local time hand will be hidden under the hour hand for less noise on the dial.
