A Danish Southern Jutland partly gilt silver vinaigrette, of vase form with two handles, pierced top on hinged lid, elongated-hexagon base with balm hide, overall richly set with facet- and cabochoncut coloured glass stones, bottom pricked “H. P. Møller 1853”. Maker Hans Eli Detlefsen, licensed in Sønderborg 1860–1884. Weight 106 g. H. 15.5 cm.
Hans Eli Detlefsen married as a journeyman in 1846 a daughter of the Sønderbog-silversmith Reimar Diedrich Dethlefsen, whose business he took over in 1860. Hans Eli Detlefsen must have made the present vinaigrette as a journeyman.
Minimal wear due to age and use, including few marks and scratches.
