Original b/w press photograph of American athlete Jesse Owens (1913–1980) during the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Developed at the same time. Visible size 20×16 cm. Frame size 30×26 cm.
Jesse Owens, born James Cleveland Owens in Oakville, Alabama, won no less than four gold medals at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin (August 1–16): August 3 in the 100 meter dash, August 4 in the long jump, August 5 in the 200 meter dash, and finally on August 9 in the 4×100 meter run. It wasn't until the 1984 Olympics that his record was equaled by Carl Lewis in the exact same events.
This is an original b/w silver-gelatin press photograph from 1936, which appears somewhat yellowed. Tear at the bottom edge (left side). In addition, ordinary handling marks.
