Provenance: The Salicath family, Bruun Rasmussen auction 105, 1959 no. 44, managing director Gregers Kirk. The tradition has it, that I. C. Dahl together with the Swedish painter Ross visited the forest supervisor mr Salicath and painted this charming painting, which he later donated to the family. After the death of mr Salicath his widow continued to live in the house.

Skovlyst was a small restaurant (beer garden) located at Kongevejen's (Københavnsvejen's) entrance to Hillerød at the edge of Præstevang. The restautant was located in an old house of a forester, which had also been the home of a forest supervisor. The beautiful thatched house burned down in 1915. Skovlyst was rebuilt as a inn, but closed in the 1950s and was later demolished. (New information added November 16th).
