Russian jeweler, 19th century

A Russian emerald and diamond brooch set with an emerald-cut emerald encircled by numerous old-cut diamonds, mounted in gold. 19th century. Diam. 2.2 cm.

Provenance: Prince Andrej Ivanovich Kozhevnikov (1854-c. 1919) from Kozlov (today Michurinsk), member of the Duma in 1915 and killed in connection with the Russian Revolution and Civil War. Later his granddaughter, currently resident in Denmark. According to the family tradition, the brooch should previously be part of a larger jewelry set, originally a gift from Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich of Russia, Governor of Moscow.

Condition
