The artist group A Kassen was formed in 2004 and consists of artists Christian Bretton-Meyer (b. 1976), Morten Steen Hebsgaard (b. 1977), Søren Petersen (b. 1977) and Tommy Petersen (b. 1975). The artist group lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. All four artists graduated from Det Kgl. Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2007. In addition, Christian Bretton-Meyer, and Morten Steen Hebsgaard have studied at Städelschule in Frankfurt, while Tommy Petersen has studied at AdbK, Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich. Through a combination of humorous, aesthetic, and abstract strategies, A Kassen experiments with the meeting between the artwork and the audience by rethinking the exhibition situation and everyday life through constructed situations. For the auction A Kassen has donated the piece “Slope (German oak)” (2015). The work is pulverized wood frame on paper. The work is part of the series “Slope”, where the four sides of the frame have been planed down, and the resulting sawdust has been transferred to the seen image.

Condition

Examined in frame. Smaller parts of the sawdust have loosened and fallen to the bottom of the frame. Otherwise original condition. The frames edges has minor chips.

The work is part of a charity auction to benefit “Børns Vilkår” (Children's Rights Denmark). The auction is initiated and curated by “Curated by Jens-Peter Brask”. The artists have generously donated their works. Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers do not charge fees or commission so the total proceeds will go undiminished to Børns Vilkår's important work.
