Søren Sejr (b. 1981)
“Scribble top/two shades in heavy gel black”, 2024. Signed on the reverse. Acrylic, oilstick and gel on canvas. 45×35 cm.
The Danish artist Søren Sejr (b. 1981) lives and works in Aarhus, Denmark. Sejr is known for his poetic paintings with few elements placed in abstract surroundings. The subtle nuance and texture difference between the image surface's two media – oil and acrylic – means that the works reveal themselves at a slow pace, which contributes to an almost meditative experience. In many of the paintings, however, the large surfaces of color are broken up by print on a background of raw canvas. This helps to give an expressive and gesturing dimension to the works as well as a feeling that the otherwise flat expression is made up of several material-bound layers.
Original condition.
The work is part of a charity auction to benefit “Børns Vilkår” (Children's Rights Denmark). The auction is initiated and curated by “Curated by Jens-Peter Brask”. The artists have generously donated their works. Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneers do not charge fees or commission so the total proceeds will go undiminished to Børns Vilkår's important work.
