Portrait of Price Carl of Bayern (1795–1875). Signed and dated p. Ron 1843. Watercolour, gouache and pencil on paper. Visible size 19×16.5 cm. Period gilt bronze frame. On the reverse crowned owners' labels for King Oscar I and Queen Josephine of Sweden, the last mentioned with text “Anno 1847 No. 194”.
Provenance: King Oscar I of Sweden (1799–1859) and hereafter his widow, Queen Josephine of Sweden, née Princess of Leuchtenberg (1807–1876), then their son, King Karl XV of Sweden (1826–1872); hereafter his daughter, Queen Lovisa of Denmark (1851–1926), married to King Frederik VIII of Denmark, thereafter their son and daughter-in-law, King Christian X (1870–1947) and Queen Alexandrine of Denmark (1879–1952); then their son and daughter-in-law, Hereditary Prince Knud (1900–1976) and Hereditary Princess Caroline-Mathilde of Denmark (1912–1995); hereafter their son, His Excellence Ingolf Count of Rosenborg (b. 1940), until today.
