Kristian Zahrtmann (b. Rønne 1843, d. Copenhagen 1917)

Purchased by Det Nationalhistoriske Museum på Frederiksborg Slot in December 2012.

“Selvportræt”. Self-portrait. Half figure in profile. Cap with green stripes and light blue smock. The painter is working on a portrait of Kaj Dessau (H. Chr. Christensen no. 745). The background is a screen with young men in renaissance dresses. Signed with monogram and dated 1916. Oil on canvas. 65×56 cm.
