Porcelain tankard decorated in purple with soldiers in landscape. The Danish Royal Porcelain Factory, c. 1780. Mounted with Baroque silver lid, coin inserted, Frederik III, 4 mark / krone 1659 “Eben Ezer”, H 100B, S 36, Aagaard 77.1, the coin is minted in memory of Carl X Gustav's failed attempt to conquer Copenhagen. The dramatic mint mark depicts the hand of God, who with the Sword of Justice cuts off the hand of the Swedish king, who is grasping for the Danish crown. Gadroned edge, leaf-shaped thumb piece. Silvermaker Morten Christensen Kirchhof, Copenhagen 1715. H. 15 cm.

Condition

Some chip along the lower rim of the mug. Wear due to age and use.
