A rectangular Chinese hardwood box, lid inserted with a porcelain plaque, decorated in colours with a river in mountainous countryside. Republic 1912–1949. H. 7.5 cm L. 19.5 cm W. 13.5 cm.
Henry Karl Kristian Kruse was employed in the Great Northern Telegraph Company in 1933. Before the World War he serviced in Russia (Omsk) where he married Maria Polikarpovna. After the World War H.K.K. Kruse serviced the company's office in Shanghai.
Wear due to age, the surface of the box somewhat faded.
