Provenance: Palazzo Braschi in Rome; acquired here by A. W. Bech of Valbygaard. Frederik Reventlow of Vindeholme; his auction january 1974, here acquired by art historian and author Bredo L. Grandjean (1916–1986), who managed the archive, library, and collection of The Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory from 1945 to 1983.

Palazzo Braschi, where the painting was originally acquired, today houses The Museum of Rome (Museo di Roma), which holds around 40.000 pieces of artwork depicting Rome's history from the Middle Ages until 1870.

Condition

The canvas is relined and extended at the edges. Retouches, crackles, and a few minimal peelings. In need of cleaning.
