Kaare Klint (b. Frederiksberg 1888, d. Copenhagen 1954)

“Safari Chair”. Armchair with ash frame. Seat, back, and loose cushion with patinated cognac-coloured leather. Armrests suspended with patinated natural leather. Made by Rud. Rasmussen cabinetmakers.

In 1933 professor Kaare Klint designed “Safari-chair” with special attention to design a simple and portable easy chair. He was inspired by an English officer's chair which he had seen in a travel book from Africa. Constructing a chair which could easily be disassembled and assembled without using any tools Klint maintained the field equipment purpose of the chair. Condition

Wear due to age and use. Scratches and marks. Armrests with surface crackles. Leather braids in front and back with defects.
