A Tibetan thangka of Padmasambhava in his manifestation as Loden Chogse. He appears as a prince seated on a throne in front of his palace surrounded by Buddhas and lamas, he has a golden skin and is richly attired holding a damaru and a skull cup in his hands. C. 1900. Image 66×43 cm.
Provenance: The late Vagn Pedersen collection, 1927–2005. Auction Bruun Rasmussen 705, 2002, lot 851.
The thangka would probably have been part of a set of eight painted with each of his manifestations. The iconography is very similar to a thangka in the collection of Rubin Museum (HAR 697) with only minor adaptions.
