Literature: Kunst i privateje, reproduced tome II, p. 323. The painting was one of the last works by the artist, presumably painted in the Summer of 1866, before he went on his last trip to Italy, where he died the following year.

Provenance: Civil engineer Henry Tuxen.

Condition

Retouches. Some small peelings. The canvas is relined. In need of a light surface cleaning.
