Toini Muona (f. Finland 1904, d. 1987)

“Heinä”. Høj slank græs strå vase af stentøj dekoreret med lys, spættet glasur. Signeret monogram TM. Udført af Arabia, Finland, ca. 1945–1950. H 45.

Arguably the most iconic piece of pottery from the golden post-war era in Finland, this rare piece exemplifies the simple sculptural form associated with Finnish design. Literature: Jennifer Hawkins Opie, Scandinavian Ceramics & Glass in the Twentieth Century, London, 1989, p. 22 (for similar example). The Heinä vases were among Muona's works that won the Gold medal at the Milan Triennale in 1951.
