A Swedish/Norwegian luxury saber c 1824 in its scabbard mounted in gilded brass. The hilt is of stirrup type with a lion pommel, the grip wrapped in leather with twisted and braided wire, langets with military attributes, c 75 cm long curved gilded and blued single edged blade decorated on one side with a hussar, trophies and the crowned cypher of king Carl XIV Johan of Sweden and on the other side with the crowned cypher of crown Prins Joseph Frans Oscars beneath the Norwegian lion. The black leather scabbard has three gilded mounts decorated all over with rocailles. The saber is most likely from the period between 1st of February till the 11th of October, when he served as viceroy of Norway.
The blade has been broken, but is professionally restored.
