A fine English double barrelled hunting marked Joseph Manton no 9001 around 1830 in its brass and oak box with a straight stock, lightly engraved lock laid flush to the stock both marked JOSEPH MANTON PATENT, c 76 cm long tip-off barrels in calibre c 16 mm marked JOSEPH MANTON HANOVER SQUARE LONDON on the strap in a two-tier oak and brass case. In the case with four drawers accessories as nipple wrench, screw drivers, oil flask, Irish shot belt, powder flask in embossed leather etc.
Joseph Manton, Gunmaker, London (1766–1835) was one of the best English gunmakers in the first third of the 19th cent.
Sligth rust on some parts. One bone handle loose on one drawer.
