Provenance: Winkel & Magnussen auction 336, 1947 no. 234. Bruun Rasmussen auction 490, 1987 no. 276.

Study for the painting “Parti af de Pontiske Sumpe med en flok bøfler” (view from the Pontine Marshes with a herd of buffaloes) from 1838 (The Hirschsprung Collection). The painting in Hirschsprung Collection was finished in January 1838 according a letter from Petzholdt to Gottlieb Collin.
