This original Panthère Lakarda ring is made of individual diamond-set elements that are inserted in two spiral rails giving the ring some flexibility. These elements interlock with each other like a puzzle. Cartier has traditionally used this intricate technique in rings and bracelets that require flexibility. However, in recent years the new pieces have become simpler and less sophisticated in their construction. The current Panthère Lakarda ring of today is made of a single piece, cast from a mold and then studded with diamonds. It has no resemblance to the intricate workmanship of the original Panthère Lakarda ring. This is the reason why the flexible pieces are more desirable among collectors, as they are a testament to the high level of craftsmanship the house Cartier is famous for.
