The work is a study for Krøyer's painting “Daphnis og Chloë”, from 1878–79, which measures 164×123 cm and is in the collection of Louis Nielsens.
Provenance: The artist's estate auction 1910, no. 88, then owned by Privy Councillor and factory owner, Wilh. Jørgensen.
Minor folding marks and creases. A couple of tears and paper loss. Some discolourations. Examined in frame.
