The painting is one of C.A. Jensen's early portraits around 1815–1820, thus the style of the portrait of the goldsmith Gumperd from 1815 bears a resemblance to the style of the present portrait.

Retouches and a few repairs/patches on the reverse. Crackles and a mark along the stretcher. In need of cleaning and tightening.
