The Lichtenberg Rococo mirrors

A pair of large engraved Rococo Murano mirrors, each with frames of matte and smooth ground mirror glass pieces mounted with lead edges engraved from the back of the glass, showing ornaments and foliage. Venice / Murano, mid-18th century. H. 219 cm. W. 102 cm. (2)

Provenence: Bidstrup estate, Langå.

According to the National Museum's scientific studies of the inventory at Bidstrup in 1952, the mirrors were restored in Brussels between 1867–1892.

Condition

Both mirrors appear in very good condition.

According to the National Museum's scientific investigations of the inventory at Bidstrup in 1952, the mirrors were restored in Brussels between 1867–1892.

On this occasion, the mirror frame glass is each mounted in thin lead frames. They are mounted on black-painted wood with suspension in the form of iron hooks and strong metal wire.

Wear due to age and dark areas, one of the smaller mirror glass on the edges are broken/cracked. Please see the attached pictures.

One of the large lower glass mirrors has been changed and is of a later date.
