An imperial 'Eight Immortals' gilt trimmed and enamelled porcelain dish, decorated in famille rose with the Immortals on an outing by the ocean. The reverse with lotus scrolls and Chuxiu Gong seal mark in underglaze blue, Guangxu (1875–1908) period. Diam. 35 cm.
Chuxiu Gong, Palace of Gathered Elegance, The Empress Dowager Cixi's retreat in the middle of the 1880ies until her death in 1908.
