Høst & Søn, Copenhagen 2007. The recording forms the basis for the Danish Hans Christian Andersen stamp from spring 2005, issued on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the author's birth.
Provenance: The present photograph was found in 1956 at Fredericiagade 15, 2nd floor, in central Copenhagen, in the home of Danish composer and musician Christian Florus Balduin Dahl (1834–1891), where Hans Christian Andersen came as a guest. Until 1956, the apartment was occupied by Dahl's two unmarried daughters. The parents of the current owner of the photograph took over the lease in Fredericiagade in 1956, and it has been in the family's possession ever since.
This is an original b/w visting card photograph of Danish author Hans Christian Andersen from 1867-ca. 1873, carrying his authentic handwritten greeting and signature. Bruun Rasmussen warrants the genuineness. A few small damages/dents on the edges. Has yellowed slightly. Furthermore, normal signs of age and handling.
