A Danish Baroque silver wine taster, gilt interior, of oval-bossed form, twin scrolling handles, slightly hammered body, concave bottom. Maker Christen Jensen, Copenhagen 17??. Acitve 1693–1727. Weight 68 g. H. 3.5 cm. L. 9.5 cm.

The present wine taster is not marked with Copenhagen town mark, when the limit duty for assay stamping to ensure the silver standard was 73 g. Below this weight, the testing was voluntary.

Provenance: From the collection of supreme court litigator Ole Gangsted-Rasmussen (1911–1998).

Condition

Minimal wear due to age and use, including few marks, scratches and dents.
