A Danish Louis XVI longcase clock in case of painted and partly gilded wood, round dial of painted metal, movement with painted moon phase and minute hand. Signed T. Hohwü, Gravenstein. Southern Jutland, late 18th century. H. 220 cm.

Provenance: His Excellency Ingolf Count of Rosenborg (b. 1940) until today.

Thomas Hohwü (1747–1829) was son of clockmaker Nicolay Hohwü and Katharina, née Petersen. He established himself as a clockmaker in Gråsten in 1785 and was licensed as a royal court clockmaker in June 1811.
