A pendant in the form of a miniature portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte. Paraphrased section of Francois Gérard's coronation portrait. Oil on porcelain, painted by Ernst Sell (1830–1885), who was employed as a porcelain painter at Bing & Grøndahl. Mounted 1989–1991 in a sterling silver frame with silver chain, made by Karsten Lank Jensen. H. pendant 5.5×4 cm. (excl. the loop). L. chain 60 cm. (2)

Provenance: The miniature portrait was made for Ernst Sell's wife, Julie Sell, née Lassen. According to the seller's information, Julie Sell was the great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Joseph Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. The seller is a descendant of Ernst and Julie Sell.

Condition

Minimal wear due to age and use. On the reverse engraved with name from when the pendant was given to a familymember 1989–1991.
