Arne Jacobsen (b. Copenhagen 1902, d. s.p. 1971)
Three glass picture frames with wood back and metal fittings. H. 70. W. 52 cm. (3)
The picture frame was designed for the iconic SAS hotel in Copenhagen, where Arne Jacobsen designed both the building and the interior. The hotel was completed in 1960. This specific frame has been acquired directly from the SAS Royal Hotel in connection with a renovation of the hotel. The number written on the backside of the frames probably refers to the hotel room where the pictures originally hung. In the black/white photos from hotel rooms in the SAS Royal Hotel from approx. 1960 you can see similar frames decorating the walls.
Wear due to age and use. Marks and scratches. Two glass frames with cracks.
