M.G. Bindesbøll (b. Denmark 1800, d. 1856)
A pair of mahogany stools with carved frames. Loose seat upholstered with sand coloured canvas. These examples made approx. 1860s. H. 46 cm. (2)
Literature: Miriam Gelfer-Jørgensen: “Herculaneum paa Sjælland”, similar legs ill. cat. 45, 50 and 71 on pp. 382–383, 386. These stools are characterized by Bindesbøll's style of furniture, however, the style originates from the drawings by N.A. Abildgaard (1743–1809).
