Christian Thomsen (b. 1860, d. 1921)

A Danish Art Nouveau porcelain belt buckle decorated in colours and gold with butterflies, mounted in gilt sterlingsilver. Royal Copenhagen and A. Michelsen, Copenhagen 1902. L. 10 cm. Original fitted case included.

Literature: Jacob Thage “Danske Smykker” (Danish Jewellery). 1990. Mentioned and similar illustrated p. 120, here mentioned: “The sculptor Christian Thomsen and the painter Bertha Nathanielsen both modeled around 1901 a number of unusual belt buckles for the factory (Royal Copenhagen). They were made of porcelain and mounted in gilt silver on A. Michelsen's smithy”.
