A Royal silver plate, shallow well, upturned edge with robe border, reverse engraved with princely crowned monogram CF for Prince Christian Frederik of Denmark (1786–1848), from 1839 King Christian VIII of Denmark, furthermore engraved “38 1/16 Lod No 17” and later engraved with a civic coat of arms including two savages and “No 46”. Maker Ignaz Joseph Würth, Vienna 1779, fineness 13. Weight 608 g. DIam. 25 cm.
Ignaz Joseph Würth was a highly recognized silversmith in his time and was, among other things, a supplier to the Imperial Austrian Court and the Royal Danish Court.
The civic coat of arms can presumably refer to the Danish-Norwegian family Tobiesen. Provenance: Tyrrestrup Manor House, Horsens.
Wear due to age and use, including some smaller marks, spots and dents plus more scratches in various degrees.
