“Flag Halyard Chair”. Easy chair with original red lacquered steel frame with black rubber shoes. Chromed steel top with complete flag halyard. Headrest upholstered with black fabric suspended by leather straps, later white sheepskin. Model GE 225. Designed 1950. Label mrk. Production no. 081. This example manufactured 1980s by Getama, Gedsted.
Model presented at The Arts & Crafts Spring Exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark in 1950.
In the 1980s, Getama made a small production of the “Flag Halyard Chair”. The model was made with a white and black frame. Extraordinarily, two chairs were made with red coloured frames. However, Hans J. Wegner was not happy about the colour, so no more than these two chairs were produced with a red frame.
This present chair was aquired by the current owner at a stock sale by Getama in the late 1980s.
