A German front-piece vestment, hand-sewn from densely flowered coloured brocade silk in slightly relief, golden weaving with pomegranates and bunches of grapes, golden ribbons framing, back of dark pink chintz, lined with newspapers. 19th century. H. 113 cm. W. top 59 cm. W. bottom 63 cm.
Provenance: The collection after pharmacist Steen Oxholt Holt-Hove (1906–1986), Danish assay master 1971–1974. Thence by descent until today.
Minor wear due to age and use, including a few cracks, chips and faded areas.
