Frode Folkvang (1899–1967) was a great art collector, and started, among other things, Kunstcirklen in Holstebro, as well as the photo and radio shop Frode Folkvang, which has been transferred to Den Gamle By in Aarhus, typical of the time. He bought his paintings directly from the artists, and was a personal friend of both Jens Søndergaard, Asger Jorn, Knud Agger, Niels Lergaard, Poul Ekelund and Hoppe etc. In 1995, when his widow Ingeborg Folkvang died, all the estate's paintings were sold at Bruun-Rasmussen at a special auction around 1995/96.
